Forest Hill 5K

Experience Forest Hill Park’s stunning 235 acres of great natural beauty and magnificent vistas of the city as you run on paths taking you through the historic John D. Rockefeller Jr’s. estate.  Forest Hill Park is a precious land consisting of wonderful meadows, deep gorges, old pathways, majestic trees, rolling hills and waterways.

This is a USATF certified 5k course that is also flat and fast ideal for the recreational runner or someone in search of a personal record. 

We are providing an option to volunteer on several dates set prior to the event  to help with beautifying the park.

Charity Event

RFGB is partnering with Forest Hill Home Owners Association to present this non-profit event to benefit the East Cleveland Park Association.

All proceeds will go to help the park and activities within that support the local community.

Race Directors


Experienced race directors Eileen Smotzer and Kate Lewis are hosting this third 5k event in Forest Hill Park.



 $25 for adults 18 and over; Students $10 (11 to 17 years)

5K Run awards for TOP OVERALL Male, Female; Top male and female in each age category:  14 & under; 5 -17; 18-24; 25-34; 35-44; 45-54; 55-64; 65 & Over.

All participants receive a performance tee shirt

This is an  inclusive family event. 

Kids under 10 are free when accomanied by a participating adult.

This USATF certified course consists of all purpose asphalt surfacing with little elevation change.



ECPA is a non-profit, volunteer association working to maintain and improve the East Cleveland portion of Forest Hill Park.

To date, ECPA has performed over $400,000 of work in Forest Hill Park. Examples of a few of our accomplishments include:

  • Building a new playground, with Jack and Jill of America, (that includes musical instruments).
  • Rehabilitating 4 baseball fields with the help of East Cleveland School Board.
  • Creating a new pond overlook by removing unwanted/unsightly brush and overgrowth, planting new flowering shrubs and installing a new picnic table, with the help of volunteers
  • Repairing three tennis courts.
  • Removing over 12 dead trees, with help of Metro-parks.
  • Painting and repairing benches and bleachers.
  • Installing a 600 foot underground electric line to provide electricity to the baseball announcer building.
  • Planting 12 flowering trees by the pond
  • Hosting 5 volunteer groups
  • Supporting an archeological dig at Rockefeller home site
  • As well as rescuing several abandoned animals.
